Camdenton school custodian charged with sexual misconduct

A custodian in the Camendton School District has been charged with two felony counts of sexual misconduct involving a child.

Camden County prosecutors charged Jesse W. Devore, 30, of Sunrise Beach, on Wednesday, alleging he exposed his genitals to a child. The district has fired Devore, Superintendent Tim Hadfield said.

The Camdenton R-III School District said in a press release Wednesday that administrators were told a staff member engaged in a “lewd act” in a restroom at Oak Ridge Intermediate School. According to the release, administrators removed the employee from the building and notified law enforcement.

Hadfield said all district parents were notified through a telephone call.

“The district takes these matters seriously in order to protect our students,” the release said. “We are fully cooperating with the Camdenton City Police Department regarding this matter.”

Police said officers interviewed the employee and arrested him.

No hearing dates were listed for Devore in online court records and he didn’t appear to have an attorney.
