Troopers arrest driver after finding 6 pounds of marijuana

Troopers arrested a woman after a traffic stop on I-70 in Cooper County yielded six pounds of marijuana.

According to a probable cause statement, a trooper pulled over Hannah Penland in February for following a tractor-trailer too closely near mile marker 98.

Court documents said the trooper asked Penland for permission to search the vehicle, which she denied. Another trooper and a K-9 arrived on scene and the K-9 alerted troopers to drugs, according to the statement.

Investigators said the search revealed about six pounds of marijuana inside of a box in the back seat of the truck.
