Great start to the work week– Rain starting Tuesday, another strong wind chance Thursday
TONIGHT: It will be quiet overnight. Temperatures drop thanks to light northerly winds… we’ll drop into the mid 20s by Monday morning. A jacket will be needed out the door in the morning.
MONDAY: The slow weather pattern will continue tomorrow. We’ll see a bit more sunshine and that will help out temperatures. We’ll see highs topping out in the upper 40s by the afternoon hours. It’s a great day to try and get outdoors this week because we’re tracking widespread rain showers by Tuesday.
EXTENDED: We’re tracking a 3-part storm system by the middle of this week that will bring us rain, storms and another round of potentially powerful wind gusts. Act one arrives late Tuesday morning as widespread showers extend into the area along a warm front. Showers will continue on and off throughout the day, as we stay soggy through Tuesday afternoon. A brief lull can be expected late Tuesday into Wednesday before the main cold front punches into Mid-MO bringing widespread heavier rainfall by Wednesday afternoon. It’s another tightly wound up storm system that will likely bring strong gusty winds to the area through Thursday. This looks like it could be an even longer sustained wind event than what we saw over the weekend as the progression of the upper-level low looks a little slower. This is something we’ll need to keep a close eye on as soils will be saturated and we could be talking about more wind damage to trees/powerlines on Thursday.
