Showers and t-storms into the weekend brings our first severe threat of the season

FRIDAY: Morning moisture brings the chance of light drizzle out the door early in the day under heavy cloud coverage. Although the clouds stick around, temperatures will warm into the low to mid 40s with an easterly breeze up to 10 mph. Winds will increase overnight to 20 mph from the southeast.

TONIGHT: Under cloudy skies patchy fog will develop through the night. Spot showers will increase after 4 AM, becoming more widespread into the morning from the west to the east. Temperatures drop into the upper 30s through the night with east winds up to 13 mph.

EXTENDED: Widespread rain and thunderstorms is likely for the first half of the day Saturday. This is as a strong storm system tracks to our north during the day Saturday. This will keep us in the warm sector of the storm, pushing temperatures up into the 50s to near 60 Saturday with gusty southwesterly winds up to 40 mph. The severe storm threat looks limited, with the better chance further south in the viewing area, closer toward I-44. Most of mid-Missouri is under a marginal severe threat, with the chance of damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and large hail. An isolated tornado is also possible with low level shear present. This all comes as a cold front pushes through the region which will knock temperatures back for Sunday, but still in the middle 40s in the afternoon. Temperatures starting out next week will stay in the middle to upper 40s with sunshine Monday. Another chance of rain moves in Tuesday as the unsettled pattern continues.
