Warming through Saturday, rain and storms likely

TONIGHT: Under cloudy skies, spotty light rain and drizzle will develop as temperatures fall into the low to mid 30s. Precipitation will be very light and roads are not expected to become slick. However, watch for patchy ice on bridges and overpasses as those will cool to the freezing mark faster.

FRIDAY: Although the clouds stick around, temperatures will warm into the low to mid 40s with an easterly breeze up to 10 mph. Winds will increase overnight to 20 mph from the southeast.

EXTENDED: Rain makes a return heading into this weekend as a strong storm system tracks to our north during the day Saturday. This will keep us in the warm sector of the storm, pushing temperatures up into the 50s to near 60 Saturday with gusty southwesterly winds up to 40 mph. Rain moves in ahead of this system late Friday night with widespread rain and thunderstorms likely for the first half of the day Saturday. The severe storm threat looks limited, with the better chance further south in the viewing area, closer toward I-44. Most of mid-Missouri is under a marginal severe threat, with the chance of damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and large hail. An isolated tornado is also possible. This all comes as a cold front pushes through the region which will knock temperatures back for Sunday, but still in the middle 40s in the afternoon. Temperatures starting out next week will stay in the middle to upper 40s with sunshine Monday. Another chance of rain moves in Tuesday as the unsettled pattern continues.
