Next round of snow moving in this morning

***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES FOR ALL OF MID-MISSOURI***

The ABC 17 StormTrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day as snow and dangerously cold temperatures move into the region over the next 36 hours.

SUNDAY: Snow is moving into the viewing area this morning. The heaviest will be moving in around 5-9 this morning, with some moderate snowfall rates expected. Along with moderate to heavy snowfall at times, winds will continue to increase as we head into the day, further reducing visibility on the roadways. It is highly advised to avoid travel this morning, as travel will be difficult. Blowing snow will only add to the hazards on the roadways, making it difficult to keep roads cleared. Temperatures will stay in the low 20s throughout the day, with wind chills in the single digits. Snow will move out by the afternoon, as this quick system moves off to the east.

TONIGHT: We may even see some sunshine this evening as clouds quickly depart with this latest round of winter weather. Overnight, we’ll see mostly clear skies, and with fresh snow on the ground, temperatures will dive to near zero. Wind chills will be dangerously cold heading out the door Monday morning, nearing 15 below.

EXTENDED: That Arctic air will dominate the day Monday, as temperatures only manage to make it into the upper teens despite sunny skies. We will stay dry for the first part of the week, as we slowly climb out of the freezer. We’ll make it back to the freezing mark on Wednesday, as temperatures top out in the middle 30s. We’re tracking our next chance at precipitation, which looks to move in Thursday. Check back with ABC 17 News as we continue to update this forecast.
