Corrections officer injured during disturbance at Callaway County jail
A teenager faces additional charges after she allegedly assaulted a jail corrections officer.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office said Mia Chitwood, 17, of Kingdom City, attacked a corrections officer during a disturbance at the jail on Monday.
According to a news release, the officer was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries and was later released.
Prosecutors charged Chitwood on Tuesday with assault and property damage. Chitwood has a court hearing scheduled for March 15.
Authorities said Chitwood was already in the Callaway County jail on suspicion of assault and resisting arrest during a January disturbance near Calwood.
