Moberly custard stand owner accused of child sex abuse

The owner of Sugar Creek Frozen Custard out of Chillicothe, Missouri, was accused of sexually abusing children who stayed with him during the summer of 2018.

Dale M. Barker, who also owns Ann Marie’s Frozen Custard in Moberly, was watching three children during the summer at his home in Chillicothe, court documents said. During that time, Barker allegedly tried to make the children, who were between the ages of 10 and 12, perform sexual acts with one another.

One of the children told police Barker tazed him in the stomach and chest area while Barker’s own children held him down. The children also told police that Barker abused two of his own children as well by tazing them and hitting them in the face, court documents said.

The children were in Barker’s care from about Aug. 16 to Oct. 29 when they went back to Virginia. They had been staying with Barker while their mother traveled to California.

The Livingston County prosecutor charged Barker with first-degree assault, promoting a sexual performance by a child and third-degree domestic assault. Barker is being held on a $75,000 bond.
