Wintertime cold makes a comeback

***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FROM 6PM TONIGHT UNTIL 12 PM TOMORROW FOR BENTON, MORGAN, CAMDEN, MARIES, PULASKI, MILLER, AND PHELPS COUNTIES***

WEDNESDAY: Drizzle for the morning commute will increase as a cold front makes its way south through the area. Drizzle may be ongoing through the afternoon under cloudy skies. Cold air will settle in behind the cold front that shifts winds out of the northwest. Temperatures through the day will drop back below freezing. With moisture present on the ground there could be a few isolated slick spots through the day.

TONIGHT: By tonight another wintery mix is possible to lift from the south northward toward HWY 50. This is as an upper level disturbance brings the chance of freezing rain, with the potential of a light snow shower mixing in. A glaze of ice is possible through the night, mainly along and south of I-44. Slick roads are possible by morning. Temperatures through the night dip into the mid 20s with wind chills in the teens thanks to a light breeze out of the northeast.

EXTENDED: We’ll stay in the low to mid 30s Thursday but will warm back into the mid 40s Friday before arctic air arrives for the first weekend of March. Light rain is possible late Friday, briefly changing to snow Friday night before ending through Saturday morning, this is with just a dusting of accumulation. As the system trends later on going snowfall is possible through Saturday. Highs will only reach into the low 30s Saturday, dropping to near 10 Saturday night. There is a slight snow chance early in the day Saturday. The arctic air looks like it will hang around through the weekend with a chance of snow Sunday.
