JCPS hosts final town hall on proposed school time changes

Administrators with Jefferson City Public Schools held the second and final community discussion on possibly changing school start and end times.

The district’s website has information on the possible changes, as well as a link to an online livestream.

Two options have been proposed to district parents and students. Under the first, all elementary schools would be in session from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m., and all secondary schools would be in session from 8:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.

The second option has the same time periods, but changes who would start first. Secondary schools would start first, followed by elementary schools

District CFO/COO Jason Hoffman said in a presentation to the JCPS Board of Education that either option would allow buses to run a double route, rather than two single routes. The change would save the district almost $40,000.
