House fire under investigation in Ashland

Southern Boone County fire crews responded to a house fire around 9:45 Saturday morning in Ashland.

Southern Boone battalion chief Colin Wright said the fire was originally difficult to get to because the house was full, but crews contained the fire by 10:30 a.m.

Wright said the fire was contained to one of the rooms on the back of the house, but the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

One person was transported to the hospital.

The fire is under investigation by the Columbia fire marshall.
