Strong system moving into the region
SATURDAY: We’re seeing some dense fog developing this morning as moisture continues to work into Mid-Missouri. Spotty showers will continue this morning as this first round moves through the area. We could hear a rumble of thunder with any of these showers as they move off to the northeast. Temperatures this afternoon will work their way into the low to mid 50s, with the help from winds out of the southeast. Our chance of showers sticks around until the evening tonight, when drier air moves in.
TONIGHT: You will notice winds picking up as we head into the evening hours tonight. This cold front will come through with a roar, kicking up winds 20-25 mph with gusts reaching near 45. Bring anything inside you don’t want knocked over. These strong winds will carry in colder air, with overnight lows dropping into the upper 20s to low 30s. If we have enough lingering moisture as cold air moves in, we could see a brief snow shower north of I-70, but no accumulations.
EXTENDED: High pressure moves in on Sunday bringing the return of sunshine to close out the weekend. Temperatures will be cooler in the afternoon, as breezy northwest winds keep up throughout the day. Quiet weather will stick around into Monday and Tuesday with temperatures in the low to mid 40s. Our next shot of cooler air moves in Wednesday, keeping highs in the mid to upper 30s both Wednesday and Thursday. Depending on the timing of the front, could bring some light snow as this system moves through. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
