Two women charged in high-speed chase

Camden County prosecutors charged two women Friday after they allegedly led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in Cole County.

Osage Beach police said the pursuit started before 1 p.m. on Thursday after the women stole items from a Dick’s Sporting Goods on Osage Beach Parkway.

Officers said they spotted the suspect vehicle and followed it onto Osage Beach Parkway. According to a news release, the vehicle ran several red lights, reached speeds over 100 mph on Highway 54 and passed other vehicles on the shoulders of the highway.

Officers said they ultimately stopped pursuing the vehicle because it became too dangerous.

Troopers later spotted the suspect vehicle in Cole County. Police said troopers stopped the vehicle and arrested the two women.

Online court records showed Te’jia Caffey is charged in Camden County with felony stealing and in Cole County with resisting arrest. Camden County prosecutors charged Janay Clark with felony stealing, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, speeding, failing to signal and failing to obey a traffic control device.
