Columbia police confirm third shooting in three days

The Columbia Police Department has found evidence of gunfire for the third time in three days.

Officers were sent to the 2300 block of Sears Court for reports of shots being heard at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts said.

Police found property damaged by gunshots, Pitts said, but he didn’t specify what was damaged.

The department is investigating two other shootings this week.

Early Thursday a residence was damaged by gunfire in the 500 block of Jackson Street, Pitts said. Around midnight Wednesday, police said a residence and vehicle were hit by bullets in the 3300 block of Dove Drive.

Police said no one was injured and they haven’t released any suspect information for any of the three shootings.
