Columbia police investigate second shooting in two days

Columbia police found evidence of a second shooting in two days early Thursday morning.

Officers were sent to the 500 block Jackson Street on a report of shots fired at 3:45 a.m., Columbia Police Department spokesman Jeff Pitts wrote in an email.

He said officers found evidence that shots were fired, and a residence damaged by gunfire.

Around midnight Wednesday, a residence and vehicle were hit by gunfire in north Columbia, Pitts said earlier. Officers found several shell casings in the 3300 block of Dove Drive.

Police said no one was injured, and no suspect information was available.
