Temperatures climb for the rest of the week

THURSDAY: Temperatures will warm a bit more heading into today, with afternoon highs topping out in the mid to upper 40s. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, but we are going to see some sunshine through the day. As high pressure continues to slide off to our east, winds will be fairly calm throughout the afternoon.

TONIGHT: With skies clearing a bit temperatures will fall back below freezing into the upper 20s. Winds out the east up to 7 mph will kick back wind chills into the low 20s.

EXTENDED: Tranquil weather sticks around for most of Friday as temperatures will again be seasonal, reaching the mid to upper 40s. A spot shower or two can’t be ruled out after lunchtime for areas south of I-70 and more likely along the I-44 corridor. More widespread rain showers will be moving in overnight Friday into Saturday morning as the latest storm system makes its way toward Mid-Missouri. We could hear a few rumbles of thunder with these showers on Saturday morning and through the day. Rain will be widespread, but most intensity will be light. Temperatures for the first part of the weekend will warm into the middle 50s with breezy southwesterly winds. The warm-up doesn’t last long as a strong cold front moves through Saturday night. We could see showers briefly change over to light snow as cold air rushes back in, more likely north of I-70. Sunday looks breezy and cooler with highs in the low 40s. That seasonal weather sticks around for the beginning of the work week on Monday and Tuesday. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
