Snow and freezing rain tonight- AM Wednesday
***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL EARLY WEDNESDAY***
TONIGHT: Light snow will develop in the Ozarks by 6 PM spreading north to I-70 by 8 PM. Most snow accumulation along and south of I-70 will come before 11 PM as we transition to freezing rain and freezing drizzle. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to near 30. Snow accumulation of 1-3 inches is expected with highest amounts northwest. Columbia to Jefferson City are likely to stay closer to an inch but 2 inches can’t be ruled out. Snow and a glaze to a tenth inch of ice overnight will cause slick roads.
WEDNESDAY: Freezing drizzle and light snow will end Wednesday morning as temperatures slowly rise above freezing which will help improve roads by noon. High temperatures are expected to top out in the mid to upper 30s Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies and westerly winds up to 12 mph, gusting to 20 mph at times.
EXTENDED: Beyond Wednesday we’re tracking a nice day Thursday and Friday with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 40s, giving us a break from winter weather. Another storm system moves in Friday night bringing rain showers late Friday night and rain Saturday as temperatures reach the lower 50s.
