Winter Weather Advisory in effect this evening with accumulating snowfall possible
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY BEGINS THIS EVENING AT 6 PM UNTIL TOMORROW AT 6 AM FOR ALL MID-MISSOURI COUNTIES AS MORE SNOWFALL IS ON THE WAY INTO THIS EVENING.
TONIGHT: We’re tracking our next disturbance to move through the area this evening. Snow will increase from the west past 7 PM with increasing snowfall through the evening. Heaviest bands will set up north of I-70 tonight. The further south you head the less likely to see snowfall, but some spotty, light snow showers are possible. As far as accumulations, 1″ can be expected in Columbia. North of I-70, some places may see 1-2″, where are southern counties will see just a light dusting. Roads will once again become slick this evening into the overnight hours, so go slow if you must be out on the roadways.
SUNDAY: The bulk of the snowfall will move east through the night, with light snow showers expected through early Sunday. Most areas will be dry by 7 AM tomorrow morning. Clouds will stick around through the day with a few lingering snow flurries possible. Temperatures only climb into the mid 30s for highs. Northwest winds up to 11 mph will hold wind chill values in the mid 20s.
EXTENDED: The weather stays quiet on Monday as we hang on to cloud coverage. Temperatures again will be below average, only reaching the low to mid 30s. Our next weather maker will move in Tuesday afternoon with an area of low pressure bringing the return of widespread rain and snow. Initially precip will start off as snowfall Tuesday afternoon, making the transition to rain through Wednesday morning and ending by the afternoon. This system still looks to bring a chance of accumulating snowfall once again to the region, but snow totals are still difficult to pin down this early out.
