Fourth teen suspect arrested in connection with Columbia robbery

A fourth teen has been arrested in connection with a Sept. 25 armed robbery in northeast Columbia.

Police arrested Jermaine Spain, 17, of Columbia, on Wednesday and prosecutors charged him with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Investigators said in a probable cause statement that Spain was one of four people who took a cellphone, wallet and cash at gunpoint from the victim during what was supposed to be a rendezvous to buy a PlayStation 4 on Elm Grove Drive.

Two fingerprints police found in the victim’s vehicle matched Spain’s prints, according to the probable cause statement.

Deandre M. Henderson, Dea’Vion Payne and Willliam Harper were arrested and charged in November in connection with the Sept. 25 robbery and other robberies. Spain and Henderson are “close friends and known to be together,” a Columbia Police Department investigator wrote in the statement.

Spain was jailed Thursday on a $50,000 bond. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
