Slippery roads expected this morning

***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON***

SUNDAY: We’re tracking a mixed bag of precipitation moving into Mid-Missouri this morning. As this moisture moves in from the south, dominant precipitation type looks like sleet and freezing rain along and south of I-70. North of the interstate, we will see mostly snow. Accumulations still look to be light with this system moving through quickly, exiting by the afternoon. Even light accumulations could create hazardous roadways this morning, with roads below freezing. Temperatures will warm up slightly this afternoon back above freezing, so any precipitation on the roadways will melt this afternoon.

TONIGHT: We’re tracking another system that will be moving through tonight. Rain will move in from the south once again. However, with temperatures nearing the freezing mark, we could see some of that rain freezing once again so we could see slick spots redevelop.

EXTENDED: Once we get into Monday, temperatures get a safer distance away from freezing, but rain will persist throughout the day. That looks to continue into Tuesday morning, as this system works a cold front through the region. As that cold air moves in, we could see a transition to snow with light accumulations possible before ending. That front moves in colder air quickly with the help of wind gusts around 30-35 mph throughout the day on Tuesday. Winds look to turn out of the south on Wednesday, keeping the bulk of the cold air out of the region, helping temperatures into the upper 40s to low 50s Wednesday and Thursday. Another storm system moves in Thursday bringing a chance of rain. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
