Utility companies preparing for winter storm

Electricity providers throughout mid-Missouri will have crews on standby overnight in case ice on power lines leads to outages.

Ameren Missouri spokeswoman Jeni Hagen said the utility is preparing and monitoring weather conditions.

“We recognize the temperatures are going to drop and we always have folks that are prepared and on call to respond to any problems,” Hagen said.

She said Ameren cut back trees in January to help prevent limbs weighing down power lines.

Columbia Water and Light, Boone Electric Cooperative, Kansas City Power and Light Company and Co-Mo Electric Co-Op told ABC 17 News they will have crews on call for this storm.
