MSHP K-9 sniffs out more than 100 pounds of pot

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested a man for drug trafficking in Cooper County Saturday after a K-9 named Rony alerted them to drugs in his car.

According Sgt. Scott White, Zechariah Heryford was pulled over around 5 p.m. on I-70. While he couldn’t say specifically what, White said troopers were suspicious of some criminal intent and called the K-9 unit.

Rony smelled the drugs, and White said that gave troopers probably cause to search Heryford’s vehicle.

They found 115 pounds of marijuana. White said Heryford was heading to the east coast from Nevada.

He faces drug trafficking charges, and is currently in the Cooper County jail.
