Officials provide few details about apparent Hickman incident
Several Columbia Police Department units rushed to Hickman High School on Wednesday afternoon, but police and school officials were not releasing details about what prompted the response.
Columbia Fire Department Assistant Chief Brad Fraizer said firefighters were sent to the school for an assault and were on scene for less than five minutes. Fraizer said he had no other immediate information.
An ABC 17 News reporter saw four Columbia Police Department cruisers outside the school a little before 4 p.m. and two CPD officers standing outside. CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts said the school resource officer at Hickman requested assistance at about 2:50 p.m.
“There is no further information to release at this time,” Pitts wrote in an email.
Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark wrote in an email that the district had no information to share as of about 3:30 p.m.
