Alcohol and speed suspected in downtown Jefferson City rollover crash

The Jefferson City Police Department’s traffic unit is investigating a rollover after a woman was taken to a hospital.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 2:10 a.m Tuesday near the intersection of W. McCarty and Jefferson Streets.

Police said Dominque L. Helton, 28, of Jefferson City, told officers inside the police department’s lobby about the crash. Helton was a passenger in the truck.

Amber M. Randolph, 27, of Jefferson City, was thrown from the pickup. Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the intersection and went off the road.

Emergency crews were able to remove Randolph from underneath the truck after it flipped over and landed in a nearby parking lot.

Randolph was taken to University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries. ABC 17 News was told on Tuesday afternoon that Randolph’s condition has been upgraded to fair.

Helton was treated for minor injuries.

Police said speed and alcohol are suspected of contributing in this crash.
