Boone County road crews work to remove snow from shoulders, residential roads

Boone County Road and Bridge crews have been on 12-hour shifts since Friday, working to remove snow from the roads.

Crews said that on Monday, their main goals are to clear the shoulders, residential areas and snow in front of mailboxes.

Crews said the work that they put in all weekend really showed this morning, when they went to their routes and found that they were mostly clear.

Columbia Public Works also continued to work on roads into Monday. A shift change occurred at 7 a.m. with 39 crew members continuing to work on neighborhood streets, Public Works officials said. Workers said they estimate that between 40 and 50 percent of Columbia roads have been plowed.

“Crews will continue plowing streets that are not yet passable by a front-wheel drive vehicle,” Public Works said in a post. “We understand the frustration from this massive snow event but plow drivers are asking for patience as they are working hard to get the job done.”
