Patchy fog overnight, with slight warming trend
TODAY: It’s another cold and cloudy afternoon across Mid-Missouri, with many areas expected to hover around freezing through the day. Slick spots on roadways can’t be ruled out, so travel with care as we continue to recover from the weekend winter storm. Winds will be out of the W/SW through the day up to 9 mph, with wind chills values near 20 degrees.
TONIGHT: It will be a cold night across Mid-Missouri as temperatures once again bottom out in the mid to upper 20s. Thanks to clouds sticking around we will be several degrees cooler, than if we had clear skies. Patchy fog will likely develop through the night as southwest winds up to 8 mph advect in warmer air. This will allow for patchy advection fog to form which could lead to some areas seeing freezing fog through the morning hours.
EXTENDED: Tuesday looks like a much better day as we’ll likely break back into the low 40s. We’ll see some peaks of the sunshine through the day, which will help warm us up. Clouds will once again track back into Mid-Missouri ahead of a midweek cold front. This front will track through Mid-Missouri Wednesday morning and bring a chance for a wintry mix to parts of the region. The best chance for a wintry mix will be north of I-70, where temperatures will hover near freezing. South of I-70 will likely see isolated rain showers. Beyond Wednesday, there’s some uncertainty beginning to brew for a storm system and arctic air set to arrive by the weekend. We’re fairly confident that we’ll see a push of brutally cold air, but we’re still tracking the exact location of where that storm will place itself. At this point,snow showers look possible into Saturday, bringing more snow accumulation to the area.
