Mid-Missouri begins to dig out of historic snowstorm– Weather quieting down this week
Tonight: It will be a cold night across Mid-Missouri as snow pack will help temperatures drop into low to mid 20s. This will lead to roads that are still slushy to refreeze into the overnight hours. You’ll want to give yourself extra time out the door if you neighborhood roads are still partially snow covered. As for the main drags/thoroughfares travel should go smoothly into the morning hours tomorrow. Take care on bridges and overpasses as some could be slick.
Monday: We return to another day of mostly cloudy skies, however some peeks of sunshine can’t be ruled out later in the day. Temperatures will hold steady near or above freezing as we slowly begin to taper off snowpack. Winds will be steady out of the southwest at 3 – 6 mph.
Extended: As for this week, Tuesday looks like a much better day as we’ll likely break close to 40. That will all depend on if we’re able to see much sunshine. If clouds hang around we’ll hold in the mid to upper 30s. A cold front arrives Wednesda and that will set us back close to average. Beyond that, there’s some uncertainty beginning to brew for a storm system and arctic air set to arrive by the weekend. We’re fairly confident that we’ll see a push of brutally cold air, but we’re still tracking the exact location of where that storm will place itself. At this point, Friday night into Saturday look to represent a rough timeline.
