Police investigate armed robbery at title loan business in central Columbia

An investigation is underway after an armed robbery at a title loan business in central Columbia on Friday afternoon.

Police told an ABC 17 News crew at the scene the armed robbery happened at Mid-American Title Loans near the intersection of Rangeline Street and Business Loop 70 around 3 p.m.

Witnesses told police one shot was fired inside the business, causing minor damage. No one was injured.

So far, police have made no arrests in this investigation. According to police, a jacket found on Pannell Street is related to this investigation. “The suspect was described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing a thin dark colored winter coat and armed with a handgun,” police said in a press release. The man allegedly left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen traveling southwest on foot.
