Plane slides off runway at Columbia Airport

An American Airlines plane slid off the runway at Columbia Regional Airport Friday afternoon, causing both runways to close, according to airport spokesman Mike Parks. There were 80 passengers on board of the aircraft at the time of the slide off.

Passengers of the flight 5766 aircraft were coming to Columbia from Dallas-Fort Worth. Passengers are being transported to the terminal. No one was hurt in the incident.

The front and right wheel of the aircraft became stuck slid off of the runway, Parks said. No commercial flights are flying into or leaving Columbia at this time.
