Lincoln University also announced it will be closing early Friday to account for the expected snow storm.

“Due to the forecast for declining weather conditions, the Lincoln University campus will close at 1 p.m. Please continue to monitor your campus email for additional information regarding registration, financial arrangements and other important details needed to be completed prior to the start of the semester on Monday, January 14.” – Misty Young, Lincoln University

The Jefferson City Police Department posted some tips for traveling during the potentially dangerous conditions.

“We ask that you allow extra time for your commutes; reduce your speeds and increase your following distances to avoid being involved in a crash or sliding off the roadway. If you become stranded or involved in a vehicle crash, be cautious as you exit your vehicle. Begin your travel with a full tank of gas, and carry a winter storm kit which can include a shovel, flashlight, cellphone, food and water, and blankets of extra warm clothing.

If you are involved in a crash and your vehicle is drivable, please move it off the roadway onto the shoulder or into a parking lot, if available, and turn on your emergency flashers. If you’re on the shoulder or find yourself in the median, the safest place to be is in your vehicle with your seat belt on, presuming no other dangers are present such as a vehicle fire.” – JCPD
