Mid-Missouri colleges and universities prepare for return of students

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Colleges and universities in Mid-Missouri are preparing for the return of students next week.

Thursday is the second day for the University of Missouri students to move into their dorms. Mizzou students and staff are scheduled to start classes Monday.

As more students move in, MU officials remind families about detailed maps for each residence hall. There is also a move-in checklist with items students should consider bringing available through the school's website.

Thursday is also Mizzou's first day of "Welcome Week." Events are scheduled through the weekend for incoming students to get familiar with campus before the start of classes.

'First Roar' is scheduled to take place Thursday from 8 until 10 p.m. Mizzou students will walk from Traditions Plaza to Faurot Field. Students taking part in the event are expected to use the tunnel under E. Stadium Boulevard to get to the stadium.

The Columbia Public Works Department posted on Twitter to warn drivers about possible pedestrians near the football field.

Other events scheduled for MU's Welcome Week include the 'Tiger Walk' on Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. Incoming students will through the columns toward Jesse Hall to mark their entrance into Mizzou.

Important dates are for other colleges and universities in Mid-Missouri:
