Passing clouds, warming temperatures

TONIGHT: Temperatures drop back into the upper 20s as skies remain clear to the north. Clouds will build from the south overnight, with most of our area staying dry. We could see a small rain/snow chance by morning along the I-44 corridor, however impacts will be limited to none. Temperatures will be a bit warmer to the southeast where the clouds build with lows near 32 degrees closer to I-44. If any rain makes it north of I-44 by Friday morning, we’ll have to watch for spotty ice on roads but chances are very low.

FRIDAY: Morning clouds clear and the warming trend continues as we reach the upper 40s to near 50 in the afternoon with a westerly breeze at 4-8 mph.

EXTENDED: The weekend looks nice for early January with mostly sunny skies Saturday but a few more clouds Sunday. Temperatures warm into the upper 50s, topping out at 60 in a few spots this weekend. Rain moves in Sunday night as temperatures fall into the 40s. Monday will start off wet but rain will decrease through the afternoon with 10″ to .40″ expected. It will still be mild Monday with hgihs in the mid 50s and continuing in the low to mid 50s much of the week before another chance of rain arrives by Friday with cooler air to follow.
