January thaw continues into the weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: High pressure has settled off to our east and that’s allowing southerly breezes to take over. That, in combination with lots of sunshine spells for a gorgeous afternoon across Mid-Missouri with many locations 10-15 degrees warmer than what we saw yesterday. However, you’ll still need the jacket for most of the afternoon as it still will be a bit chilly– think mid 40s… and then especially after sunset where we’ll quickly drop back into the 30s.

TONIGHT: Temperatures drop back into the upper 20s as skies remain clear to the north. Clouds will build from the south overnight, with most of our area staying dry. We could see a small rain/snow chance by morning along the I-44 corridor, however impacts will be limited to none. Temperatures will be a bit warmer to the southeast where the clouds build. Southwesterly winds calm a bit through the night to create wind chills only dropping a few degrees from the actual temperature.

EXTENDED: Another southern storm system will pass our south tonight into Friday morning but the precipitation looks like it will stay in southern Missouri. Areas along the I-44 corridor could see a few spotty showers in the early part of the day. After morning lows in the upper 20s, temperatures warm Friday near 50 degrees with plenty of sunshine as clouds in our southern counties push east. The weekend looks nice for early January with mostly sunny skies Saturday and highs in the mid to upper 50s. Rain moves in Sunday night, continuing Monday morning then tapering off with .30″ to .70″ expected. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest on the upcoming changes and check back here for updates.
