The warming trend begins: now
THURSDAY: We’ll finally see some sunshine and temperatures will start to rise. After a cold morning, we’ll reach the mid to upper 40s in the afternoon with a southwest breeze up to 8 mph.
TONIGHT: Temperatures drop back into the upper 20s as skies remain clear to the north. Clouds will build from the south overnight, with most of our area staying dry. We could see a small rain/snow chance by morning along the I-44 corridor, however impacts will be low. Temperatures will be a bit warmer to the southeast where the clouds build. Southwesterly winds calm a bit through the night to create wind chills only dropping a few degrees from the actual temperature.
EXTENDED: Another southern storm system will pass our south tonight into Friday morning but the precipitation looks like it will stay in southern Missouri. Areas along the I-44 corridor could see a few spotty showers in the early part of the day. After morning lows in the upper 20s, temperatures warm Friday near 50 degrees with plenty of sunshine as clouds in our southern counties push east. The weekend looks nice for early January with mostly sunny skies Saturday and highs in the mid to upper 50s. Rain moves in Sunday night, continuing Monday morning then tapering off with .30″ to .70″ expected. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest on the upcoming changes and check back here for updates.
