Moberly police continue to investigate double homicide
Moberly Police continue to investigate a double homicide after a car was found Saturday morning with two men struck by gunfire.
This comes after police were called to check out a suspicious car on Concannon Street in downtown Moberly Saturday morning. Upon their arrival, they found two male victims inside, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The coroner did determine their cause of death was a homicide, and an autopsy is set to be completed on the two victims.
Police have not released the names of the two men found pending notification next of kin.
Moberly residents tell ABC 17 News they are devastated and frightened by the news. Several residents said they are worried there is a shooter out there.
One resident, James Moore said he’s watching his back until police release further information.
“Everybody looks because we don’t know who’s going to come in and people are terrified in this town because those guys are still on the loose. We are fearful for our kids, our family. We just worry and hope they get them,” Moore said.
According to ABC 17 reports, this marks the first two homicides for Moberly this year – we are still waiting to confirm this number with law enforcement.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Moberly Police Department at 660-263-0346, the Randolph County TIPS hotline at 660-269-8477, or their local law enforcement agency.
