Scattered afternoon showers, with falling temperatures overnight

THURSDAY: It will be a windy and warm day across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Winds will be out of the south up to 20 mph with gusts as high as 35+. This comes ahead of a strong cold front that will track through Mid-Missouri later tonight. Ahead of the front scattered showers and storms are possible as we head through the day, with less coverage expected than this morning.

TONIGHT: All rain comes to an end as we head into this evening. Clouds stick around tonight making for partly cloudy skies. In the wake of the cold front moving through winds shift out of the northwest overnight. Winds will be breezy once again with sustained winds up to 18 mph and gusts up 23 mph. This will cool us down into the upper 20s to low 30s by morning, wind chill values will be in the low 20s.

EXTENDED: Friday will be much colder with highs in the upper 30s to near 40 with wind chills in the 20s. The cold Canadian air continues to filter into Mid-Missouri as we head into the weekend, bringing many locations the coldest air of the season. High temperatures will only reach the freezing mark Saturday, dropping to near 20 overnight. Sunshine returns Sunday but it will still be chilly with highs in the upper 30s which is normal for this time of year. More unsettled weather is possible by next Monday with a chance of rain and snow as another surge of cold air arrives for the start of 2019. We’ll reach the low 40s Monday but will drop back down below freezing New Year’s Day, with overnight lows dipping into the low 10s.
