Early morning rain brings a soggy commute

THURSDAY: Widespread rain is likely to impact the early morning commute, causing slow going traffic. Allow for a little bit of extra time as you head out in the morning. Rain will decrease late in the morning, but a few showers and isolated t-storms are possible late in the afternoon as the cold front moves through. It will be warm Thursday with highs in the lower 60s as southerly winds at 15-20 mph gust to 35+ mph at times.

TONIGHT: All rain comes to an end as we head into this evening. Clouds stick around tonight making for partly cloudy skies. In the wake of the cold front moving through winds shift out of the northwest overnight. Winds will be breezy once again with sustained winds up to 15 mph and gusts up 22 mph. This will cool us down into the upper 20s to low 30s by morning, wind chill values will be in the low 20s.

EXTENDED: Friday will be much colder with highs in the upper 30s to near 40 with wind chills in the 20s. As another upper wave passes through, there is a slight chance of light snow showers or flurries late Saturday and Saturday night but accumulation looks unlikely. High temperatures will only reach the freezing mark Saturday, dropping to near 20 overnight. Sunshine returns Sunday but it will still be chilly with highs in the upper 30s which is normal for this time of year. More unsettled weather is possible by next Monday with a chance of rain and snow as another surge of cold air arrives for the start of 2019. We’ll reach the low 40s Monday but will drop back down below freezing New Year’s Day. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest on the upcoming changes and check back here for updates.
