Rain & mild weather through Thursday, colder by Friday

TONIGHT: Rain becomes more widespread through the night, with an isolated chance for a thunderstorm. Despite the rain and clouds, temperatures will slowly rise through the night with winds out of the southeast at 15-20 mph and gusts as high as 30. Any lightweight Christmas decorations or items you have outside may need to be secured or brought in through the night. Rainfall totals will vary, with many spots seeing .25 to .50″ with local amounts up to 1″ possible.

THURSDAY: Rain will decrease Thursday morning but a few showers and isolated t-storms are possible late in the afternoon as the cold front moves through. It will be warm Thursday with highs in the lower 60s as southerly winds at 15-20 mph gust to 35 mph at times.

EXTENDED: Once the cold front clears the region, we’ll dry out Thursday night as temperatures fall into the upper 20s. Friday will be much colder with highs in the upper 30s to near 40 with wind chills in the 20s. As another upper wave passes through, there is a slight chance of light snow showers or flurries late Saturday and Saturday night but accumulation looks unlikely. High temperatures will only reach the freezing mark Saturday, dropping to near 20 overnight. Sunshine returns Sunday but it will still be chilly with highs in the upper 30s which is normal for this time of year. More unsettled weather is possible by next Monday with a chance of rain and snow as another surge of cold air arrives for the start of 2019. We’ll reach the low 40s Monday but will drop back down below freezing New Year’s Day. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest on the upcoming changes and check back here for updates.
