Columbia stabbing suspect arrested without bond

Officers arrested a Columbia man in connection to a Sunday afternoon stabbing.

Jessie R. Williams, 28, of Columbia was found at the Welcome Inn on Providence Road around 3:40 p.m. Monday. The Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Teams assisted when Williams refused to exit his motel room.

Police said evidence and information from witnesses helped officers and detectives learn Williams’ identity.

The Columbia Police Department responded to Casey’s General Store on Rangeline Street around 2:00 p.m. Monday after they received a call about a man with bloodied clothing entering the store.

The man had been stabbed several times, and emergency personnel took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A Columbia police officer on scene told ABC 17 News that the man is 73 years old.

Williams was arrested for 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action. He is detained at the Boone County Jail without bond.
