EXTENDED: Rain returns as a strong cold front sweeps through the region. Initially rain will be light in nature but will become heavier late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Rain will decrease Thursday morning but a few showers and isolated t-storms are possible in the afternoon. Most areas will pick up a half inch to inch of rainfall with a stripe of 1-2 inches possible in our northwestern counties where we’ll need to watch for localized flooding. It will be warm Thursday with highs in the lower 60s as southerly winds increase, gusting to 30 mph at time. Once the cold front clears the region, temperatures will fall to more winter-like numbers. Friday will be much colder with highs in the upper 30s to near 40 and overnight lows near 20. As another upper wave passes through, there is a slight chance of light snow Saturday with a dusting to an inch possible. High temperatures will only reach the freezing mark Saturday, dropping to near 20 overnight. Sunshine returns Sunday and will bring temperatures up into the upper 30s which is normal for this time of year. More unsettled weather is possible by next Monday with a chance of rain and snow with another surge of cold air arriving for the start of 2019.
