Car crash with deer leaves woman with serious injuries

A woman was transported to the hospital after a car crash with a deer Tuesday evening in Jefferson City.

According to the Jefferson City Police Department, the crash happened after 5 p.m. in the 2300 block of US 50 West.

Anthony Knight was driving westbound when a deer crossed in front of his car, causing him to crash into the deer.

Knight’s passenger, Alyssa Hency was severely injured in the crash, according to the crash report.

Hency was taken in a helicopter to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries.

the crash report said Knight and Hency were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Knight suffered minor injuries, but was not treated by EMS.

Jefferson City Police Department responded to the incident.
