Mid-Missouri troopers arrest at least 10 for drunk driving over holiday weekend
The Missouri State Highway Patrol started its Christmas holiday counting period 6 p.m. Friday.
During the counting period, officials said more troopers are on the roads, watching for aggressive driving. That includes speeding, distracted driving and following another vehicle too closely.
Not only do troopers count how many crashes occur between Friday and Christmas at midnight, but they also record how many drivers are arrested for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
Statewide, 92 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated during the Christmas holiday counting period, according to MSHP records.
So far, at least 12 people have been arrested with DWIs since Friday night in mid-Missouri alone.
