Two offenders attempt escape from JCCC
Two offenders admitted to trying to escape the Jefferson City Correction Center on Wednesday.
A corrections officer was conducting a security check of a two-man cell and noticed one of the offenders had a fresh minor injury, according to a statement from JCCC.
When the officer began asking questions, the two offenders admitted they were trying to escape through the housing unit window, which they had broken, the statement said. If they would have been successful in exiting the housing unit, they would have been contained in the secure perimeter.
The investigation is ongoing.
JCCC has “motion detection systems, motion-activated impact lighting, an extensive video-surveillance system, razor wire and a lethal electric fence,” the release said.
