Clouds return today with rain chances by the afternoon
WEDNESDAY: A jacket will be needed for the first part of the morning, but temperatures will quickly rise into the afternoon hours. Despite the cloudy conditions, highs will top out in the low 50s with breezy winds out of the southwest up to 15 mph. A few spot showers are possible into the afternoon hours, but a better chance arrives as we head into Wednesday night as a weak cold front tracks through.
TONIGHT: Light showers will continue to move from the west to the east through the night. Showers will remain as rain as temperatures dip into the mid 30s. Winds will shift out of the northwest through the night. Northwest winds up to 8 mph will make for wind chills close to freezing through the morning.
EXTENDED: The light rain will continue into Thursday and will gradually taper off into the afternoon hours. Rainfall amounts won’t be impressive with many locations recording under .25″ of rain. However, isolated areas could squeeze out .50″ of rain near I-44. As the system exits late Thursday, cooler air will filter in to close out the work week. Breezy winds out of the northwest on Thursday will bring for cooler temps. We only top out in the middle 40s Thursday with cloud cover lingering and low 40s by Friday. Christmas weekend looks dry with lows in the upper 20s and highs climbing into the low to mid 40s. Small rain chances are possible for Christmas Eve and Christmas, but models are still having trouble coming into an agreement.
