Power restored after hundreds of customers lost service in Jefferson City

UPDATE 6:30 P.M.: Power was restored to all customers in the Jefferson City area, according to the Ameren outage map.

UPDATE 6 P.M.: About 800 customers remained without power in the Jefferson City area.

ORIGINAL: More than 1,500 customers were without power in north Jefferson City on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Ameren Missouri, the outage was caused by one of the two transformers at the substation. Officials said one of the transformers tripped itself.

Crews were working to get the power restored. Officials said power should be back on by 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
