Prosecutors charge man in connection with shooting at Aspen Heights

Prosecutors charged a 20-year-old in connection with a shooting that injured one person on Saturday.

Jaylen James was charged with second-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Police said officers responded to the 3800 block of Aspen Heights Parkway around 2:40 p.m. Saturday for reports of gunshots.

According to the probable cause statement, James had a handgun and “caused it to discharge” inside of a home, injuring another person.

Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Online court records indicate James’ was arraigned Monday afternoon. His next court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 2.
