Two arrested in massive drug bust

Authorities have arrested two men after pulling more than 300 pounds of marijuana out of a car in a massive Cooper County drug bust.

Troopers pulled over 34-year-old Felix Lopez and 19-year-old Jonathan Padilla around 3 p.m. earlier today in Cooper County for allegedly following another vehicle too closely while driving east on Interstate 70.

After a search of the vehicle the troopers seized 301 pounds of marijuana from their vehicle.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is recommending charges of first-degree drug trafficking. Both Padilla and Lopez are being held in the Cooper County jail.
