JCPS enters $1.5 million road construction agreement with city
The Jefferson City Public Schools Board of Education agreed to work with the city government on a $1 million project.
The agreement made by board members at their Monday meeting says the city will reimburse the school district up to $1.5 million for the construction of a road near Capitol City High School.
The 60-foot-wide road will connect Creek Trail Drive and Mission Drive, and will be on the east side of the new high school.
District chief financial officer and chief operating officer Jason Hoffman said the cost of construction for the road will be low because of the ongoing development of Capitol City High School.
“It’s never going to be done cheaper than now, while we’re developing the site,” Hoffman said. “It should be a really nice in and out for people that want to get to the school.”
The new road will offer a northern connection to the high school, which is set to open for the 2019-2020 school year.
