Fulton man sentenced for silencers, guns

A Fulton man will spend 10 years in federal prison for making a gun silencer and illegally having guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Nathaniel C. Carroll, 37, was sentenced Friday in federal court in Jefferson City. He pleaded guilty in July to illegally making a firearm, possessing an illegally made firearm and being a drug user in possession of firearms.

Carroll was accused of threatening state children’s division workers who were working on a child custody case. Police had received reports of explosions at Carroll’s home and after a judge determined the state would take Carroll’s children from his home in October 2017 his statements and behavior led to the closure of all Missouri Department of Social Services offices in Callaway County, the U.S. attorney’s office said in a news release.

Officers searched Carroll’s home the next day and found two homemade silencers, 12 guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition and marijuana, according to the release. They also found in his van flyers praising Adolf Hitler and Nazism, the release said.
