Fulton man arrested accused of attempted burglary, assaulting deputy

A Fulton man has been charged with attempted burglary and assault after Callaway County deputies said he tried to break into a home in the 7000 block of County Road 411 on Friday night.

Deputies responded to a call about a burglary in progress and identified Scott Skaggs, 45, as a suspect. They found him a short time later walking near the victim’s residence.

They arrested him but law enforcement said he attacked a deputy when he was taken to a local hospital.

Skaggs is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $6,000 bond. He is also charged with violating an order of protection.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation.
